Grow From Seeds

Growing red valerian from seed

A short-lived perennial with red or white flowers that seeds itself freely.

Sowing

Sow in spring or autumn, on the surface or lightly covered. It will self-seed, so deadhead if you do not want it to spread.

Tips

  • Grows to roughly 60 to 90 cm.
  • Good filler in poor, free-draining soil.
  • Not the same plant as the medicinal valerian (Valeriana officinalis).

Always check the packet for your variety, and see the step-by-step guide for the basics.
