Grow From Seeds

Growing lavender from seed

Slow and patchy from seed, but cheap and rewarding.

Sowing

Sow in spring or autumn in free-draining mix, lightly covered. Germination can be slow and patchy; give it weeks.

Move seedlings on carefully and plant out in a sunny, well-drained place.

Tips

  • Plants from seed often flower from the second year and take a few years to bush out.
  • Lavender is excellent for bees.
