Valerian is a short lived perennial with red or white flowers that grows 60 to 90cm and flowers in mid to late summer. The plant self seeds, and can therefore be difficult to control. It can be a good filler plant. Once the plant grows, it should be dead headed to avoid it taking over the garden. The flowers are beautiful once cut.
